About The Event
Yanfei has created a compelling world through a series of engaging paintings. The corners, corridors
and empty rooms are, perhaps, metaphors for a state of mind and for all of their sense of
desolation, they are intimately concerned with human experience.
Circle and Stone
By Yanfei Chen
A termite can’t see the whole elephant,
it just crawls around its foot and thinks that it sees all.
Winds tear spring and winter into halves —
some shudder and shiver in spring,
some hide and strive in winter.
The malt whisky shakes in the glass of the stranger,
but who would still want to take the sip?
All come as companions,
yet all have never known or met each other.
The stone lies in the middle of the street, waiting for the careless to fall.
But the passers-by really just pass by —
no one has his will fulfilled.
Someone draws a circle with a pencil in the sky,
pouring into it the termite and the winds.
But the elephant is still standing as it was.
